Celanese Sr. Manager, Talent Management, Asia in Shanghai, China

The Sr. Manager, Talent Management-Asia will lead, manage and implement talent assessment and development programs for the region and act as an advisor to the Asia Leadership team and Regional HR Business Partners. This role acts as a principal thought leader and partner for leadership and employee training, performance management, succession planning and talent reviews, and talent-based organizational readiness. Additionally, this position leads the development and deployment of change management strategies supporting enterprise initiatives programs.

  • Build a strong Regional TM team by aligning team member’s objectives, helping new team members assimilate into the group, and by providing daily coaching and feedback.

  • Partner with global Talent Management team to provide regional guidance in the development of global talent management programs / infrastructure aligns with regional needs.

  • Act as the advisor to Asia Leadership Team in development of the regional talent strategy. Provide Leadership and guidance to the HR team, working closely with the HR Business Partners.

  • Develop and deploy leadership development and assessment activities

  • Demonstrate ownership and leadership for all talent development activities, including: training, talent placement, leadership development and coaching and mentoring of key talent.

  • Serve as a resource to the VP of Talent Management related to defining regional talent management needs and making recommendations.

  • Model the Celanese leadership attributes of Think & Act Strategically, Delivers Value, Engages Others, and Model Self-Leadership to ensure we create a culture of diversity and inclusion and demonstrable commitments to integrity of a respectful workplace.

  • Lead annual Talent Review and Performance Management processes.

  • Working knowledge of general organizational development and readiness, including talent assessment, competency-based development, performance management, succession planning, training design and facilitation, 360 and leadership coaching, organization and role design, and effective change management

  • Proficient understanding of the fundamentals of general leadership in a complex, demanding organizational culture

  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills, demonstrated through an ability to construct productive, sustainable cross-functional partnerships across a highly matrixed organization; an ability to navigate with ease through ambiguous situations; and conduct difficult conversations effectively. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to tailor and present information to varying types of audiences effectively.

  • Strong English language skills, both written and oral, to enable effective and persuasive communication across the organization globally with people from varying roles, functions and levels of leadership.

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines

Required Years’ Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above education

  • 10-15 years of experience in HR including 6 – 8 years in leadership development /organizational effectiveness

  • Prior experience as an HRBP is preferred
