We are looking for a great engineer to play a key role in building a new O365 service. The service will utilize and analyze hundreds of petabytes of data to provide useful and actionable insights that significantly improves productivity of individuals and teams. The candidate will play a key role in defining the technical direction and delivering this new service as part of O365. Microsoft is going through a major transformation and building industry leading software and services. Office 365 is a key pillar of this strategy with millions of customers that continues to grow. Office 365 was the fastest business in Microsoft to reach $1 billion in revenue. In the next year it again more than doubled its revenue. Today Office 365 is a $6+ billion business at Microsoft. Exchange Server is the #1 enterprise e-mail server in the world and is on track to be the #1 e-mail service in the world. The goal for this service is to leverage the wealth of data present in O365 - which has also been growing exponentially - to unlock the value in the data and provide our customers with deep organizational/business insights. This emerging field combines big data and behavioral analytics to generate unprecedented insights into time use and networks, leveraging the data signals knowledge workers use every day. We are looking for passion and desire to work on cloud services, and a proven record delivering production software/services. We are also looking for someone who can thrive with ambiguity and agility, and who enjoys the rhythm/culture/atmosphere of a startup team. Candidates should have strong analytical, design, and development skills and a willingness to learn databases, big data processing, and highly scalable systems. Proficiency in object oriented development is a plus, with C# and .Net preferred.

Responsibilities:

Work proactively and closely with teams across Office 365, Azure and other partners in the company.

Define and participate in processes that enable the team to work with greater agility, release rapidly across different platforms and deliver at a high quality.

Help and code reviews for other members of the team.

Do rapid prototyping to test out ideas.

Responsible to perform investigations and investments in complex areas; designing and delivering features end to end - including system architecture, code, deployment, scale, performance and quality, from conception to delivery.

Able to handle large scope and complicated feature ownership by working under self-driven initiatives with PM and engineering teams.

Participate in the oncall rotation on the components you work on

Provide regular status reporting of the projects against program plan or schedule.

Basic Qualifications:

2+ years of software development experience in the commercial software industry

BS in Computer Science or Engineer or equivalent industry experience

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
