Under the direction of the Director of Legal Services Asia, serve as a subject matter expert for compliance issues in the assigned region. Ensures that the Company acts upon the required elements of Magna’s Ethics and Legal Compliance Program as mandated by the Magna Compliance Council, ensure that the Company complies with regulatory requirements and internal policies, and provide training, guidance and advice to Magna managers and employees on compliance related matters within the assigned region.
Monitor the directives of the Magna Compliance Council and ensure that the program initiatives and other policies and procedures recommended by that body are implemented within the assigned region.
Deliver compliance training for employees, suppliers and third parties where necessary.
Provide support to Purchasing Compliance due diligence for third parties.
Coordinate the translation of compliance training resources, corporate policies and procedures and other informational materials and see that such materials are available and comprehensible to local employees.
Liaise with Corporate Compliance staff, including the Vice-President, Ethics and Legal Compliance and other Regional Compliance Officers, to ensure that training goals are met, recommended internal controls are in place and other requirements are fully implemented within the assigned region.
Provide support on compliance matters to Group and Corporate management and Divisions as needed and work closely with them to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the compliance program.
Periodically report compliance program progress status/updates for the assigned region, and follow-up on Regional Compliance Committee matters when needed.
When called upon, provide support to Regional Compliance Committees and monitor regional committee meetings to ensure that Compliance Program goals are consistently implemented.
On an ongoing basis, monitor and assess the local regulatory developments that could impact lines of business, and support the development of new control mechanisms to address compliance risks.
On an ongoing basis, monitor changes at the Divisions that could impact the level of compliance risk, perform risk analyses and prepare and communicate risk assessment reports to Group and Regional Compliance
Knowledge and Education
- University or college degree in law, accounting, human resources, communication or other ethics and compliance relevant fields. Law license, CPA or CCEP certification preferred but not required.
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively in English as well as Chinese
Ability to build solid relationships across a diverse group of business people with a wide array of professional backgrounds, including executive management
Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within and across departments to meet established and changing deadlines.
Proficiency utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and legal research tools and applications.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
5+ years of practical experience in a corporate environment, preferably the automotive sector.
Experience in dealing with compliance issues such as anti-bribery and anti-trust laws, rules and regulation and knowledge of the key elements of an effective compliance program.
