Principal Scientist, Respiratory Health China

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Support Philips Research China by carrying out research on Respiratory Health by developing breakthrough technologies to improve millions of lives.

You are responsible for

  • Keep abreast of technical and application and market development within technological and industrial area, demonstrate understanding of the business and market; be recognized as experts in one or more domains regionally within Philips and outside in relevant areas/domains

  • Initiates and delivers essential contributions to the patent portfolio and patent strategy

  • On own initiative/define the research projects together with Department head and actively contribute to definition of the department’s research program and business rationales; develop transferable results within and outside of the defined projects; actively pursue the improvement of the Innovation Climate and stimulate change

  • Actively propose own ideas, exploring new areas or increasing insight into existing areas in line with business needs

  • Experienced, manage a portfolio of contents or projects, multiple platforms

  • Coach colleagues and help others’ technological development

The Respiratory Health China team, within Philips Research China organization, where a professional but fun workplace atmosphere is valued and a diverse multi-functional team will greet you. You will report to the Respiratory Health China Team Leader and collaborate with many other teams who are based a floor away or a phone call away in another country. These include Marketing teams, Advanced Development team, Design Team.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Ph.D. degree in Physics, Medical engineering, or related major with 5 years for PhD degree hands-on research experience in signal process, data analysis, respiratory device engineering, or related experience

  • Broad knowledge including theory and experimental in respiratory health problems

  • Excellent research capability on medical device, demonstrated with good track record, e.g. publications at renowned international journals/conferences, good analytical skills to understand and interpret data from materials and machines.

  • Experience in working in project teams and cross-disciplinary co-operation (medical, air purification, mechanical engineering).

  • Advanced writing skills, researching, deductive and inductive reasoning, and interpreting information in order to convey to others.

  • Passionate, open-minded, with a good team spirit, and results-oriented; effective communication skills, good grasp of English both orally and literally.
