The Product Engineer is responsible for product development of new products, from market definition through production and release. The position conceives original ideas for new products and develops them into practical and economical models. His major activities are in the areas of design, development, testing, and manufacture of connectors, products, and systems.

The Product Engineer determines specifications, performs engineering analyses, makes preliminary sketches and design, coordinates support operations such as fabrication engineering samples and testing. Interaction with customers, vendors, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products is also an important part of the role.

Key Tasks:

  • Responsible for product development from market definition through production and release.

  • Performs activities concerned with design, development, manufacturing and testing.

  • Conceives ideas for new products, and use the engineering tools to create models and drawings, introduce your concept to team and work with the team to develop a acceptable concept into practical product.

  • Develop technical solution to complex technical problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors

  • Determines specifications, performs engineering analyses, makes preliminary sketches and design, coordinate and support operations such as fabrication of prototypes and testing.

  • Interacts with customers, vendors, marketing and sales personnel, and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products. Interfaces with internal and external disciplines:

    • Regular communication to the PJM
  • Work with different function/region team, have influential communication in team

  • Provide cross disciplinary product related advise about technical and technical-commercial aspects

  • Have regular discussions on progress, work implementation and problems, priorities, analysis, audit, CAE with other involved parties

  • Advise and support manufacturing development team and plant with technical solutions

  • Vendor liaison at all levels as required, contracting (through purchase department) and consultancy

  • Customer advise and consultancy (through Business Office) about possibilities, applications and processing of the products

Other Duties:

  • Visit customers in cooperation with the’ Business Office, get clear VOC.

  • Assess technical complaints and solve problems during further development

  • Manage and take responsibility for documentations and records such as the ‘Drawings Data File’ or ‘Design History File’ and Engineering Change Requests/Notifications

  • Initiate necessary engineering analysis like FEA and mold flow analysis

Key Qualifications, Experiences & Knowledge:

  • Must have minimum an academic engineering degree

  • 10 years at least work experience mainly for fibre optical products and total site solution, including connectors design and manufacture engineering.

  • Some experience for leading main projects and succeed.

  • Distinct work practice with testing and simulation devices

  • Familiar with CAD tools like Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, ANSYS and other necessary engineering tools

  • Understanding product validation and testing specification requirements

  • Should have materials selection expertise.

  • Have knowledge about metal and resin material which related connector design.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes like molding, stamping, plating, assembly.

  • Fully acquainted with the computer and common software (MS office package), including engineering software

  • The Product Engineer must possess the maturity, technical competence and natural authority to look after technical interests with minimal supervision

  • Basic understanding about the optical signal requirements.


  • Demonstrated behaviours and values at or above TE standard

  • Proficiency English communication skills both in writing and oral

  • Basic knowledge in 6sigma design.

  • Capabilities on failure mode cause analysis.
