Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for equipment performance monitoring, improvement and control, new or existing equipment mechanical design for development of optical cable making manufacturing

  2. Recommend/execute equipment improvements for quality, yield and cost improvement

  3. Documentation & Training of improvements and equipment understanding to Operations/Maintenance for sustainability

  4. Support Manufacturing objectives with problem solving; applying the fundamentals understanding to determine root cause of problems

  5. Focus on building knowledge of the existing process and capabilities

  6. Individual contributor on projects, along with management of PEx improvement projects

  7. Engineering position to support and improve existing cable making equipment

  8. Documentation of status and issues and developing plans to resolve issue

  9. Design process/ equipment related experiments to determine and optimize important process/ equipment variables and product parameters

  10. Implement new equipment introduction, new production line / equipment prove-in

  11. Evaluate and qualify new vendors; author, review and update equipment drawings. Act as the technical prime for any equipment failure in the plant, or on any vendor quality audits.

  12. Identify and implement product cost reductions, scrap reductions, and design improvements

  13. Support on LEAN manufacturing promotion

  14. Support the new material/ process qualification

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or above

  • Major in mechanical engineering.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years process engineer experience in manufacturing plant.

  • Familiar with data analysis tools such as Minitab, SPC

  • Strong problem solving abilities and skills

  • Strong technical curiosity and be able to work on multi-tasks

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across the organization

  • Good written and oral English

  • Familiar with project management processes
