General Electric Lead Engineer - Customer Project Engineering in Beijing, China

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provides overall technical responsibility and supervision to assure timely and economical execution of projects or bidding to meet company standards and client specifications;

• Provides leadership and supervision to engineering teams comprised of multiple disciplines throughout the life of the assigned project;

• Develops and manages engineering plans, quality, and resources as per project requirement;

• Manages engineering budget and schedule of the assigned projects;

• Lead technical negotiations with customers, partners and contractors. Manages Client approval of engineering deliverables as required;

• Conducts engineering gate reviews, technical status reviews, as well as other design reviews. Provide the management a complete and detailed project technical status report on a regular basis;

• Provides guidance to engineering team regarding priorities and interfaces;

• Review, approve and release engineering documentation, drawings and material requisitions of all disciplines, ensuring conformance to contractual specifications and budget;

• Approves Purchase Order Recommendation (POR);

• Approves engineering Variance Request (VR);

• Provides recommendations jointly with the discipline leaders, concerning the choice of technical solutions;

• Makes sure that standard solutions and previous experiences are considered in the assigned projects if applicable;

• Controls the correct circulation of the engineering documentation among the project engineering team during the project execution or tendering;

• Supports the project manager and/or the contract manager on technical issues of claims to/from the client/partners/subcontractors;

• Be responsible for the maintenance of the engineering Master Document List (MDL) and Bill of Quantity (BOQ);

• Follows up the site team on engineering issues. Coordinates training manuals as well as O&M manuals of the assigned projects;

• Other tasks assigned;


• Minimum ten (12) years’ industrial experience after BS, or 10 years after MS

• Experience in an engineering or construction coordination position of heavy industrial equipment, preferably in power generation industry

• Experience in leading discipline engineering team in projects

• Planning knowledge

• Organizing and coordinating skills

• Communication and interpersonal skills

• Understand the commercial implications of project events

• Basic concept of financial terms, General awareness on contractual terms.

• Proficiency in English
